Bodycraft Galena

If you read my review of the Bodycraft Xpress gym, you know how much I like it and recommend it - unfortunately I don't feel quite the same way about the Bodycraft Galena, and I'll tell you why...
First off, I know some of you are thinking that the Galena received a "Best Buy" award form a leading consumer magazine, but I think they're way off the mark...it almost makes me think that they didn't look at any more than 5 gyms as a comparison (or their friend told them how good it was)...
The primary reason I'm not the biggest fan of the Bodycraft Galena is that I don't care for the design layout with the seperate pec deck.
Putting on a pece deck on station 2 is more for show, and the fact that having a pec deck will sell more gyms to the uninformed. At $1299 bucks, there should be more substance to the gym on the second station, and when you add in the leg press the price goes up to $1799 - which I feel is too high for what type of setup you're getting (see Bodycraft Xpress for comparison)
Key specs on the Bodycraft Galena gym:
Dimensions: 58” Wide (Pec Dec) X 72” Deep (Press Station) 92” Wide with Optional Leg Press X 81” High
200 lbs.weight stack in 10 lb. increments. Precision milled cast iron plates with nylon bushings for smooth action
Heavy 2" X 2" and 2" X 3", 11 and 12 gauge steel tubing frame
Flexible nylon coated, 7X 19 strand aircraft cable rated at over 2000 lbs. tensile strength
Internally lubricated bearings
Included accessories: Lat Pull Bar, Curl Bar, Ankle Strap and two Single Handles are included
Lifetime warranty
It's not all bad...There are some good points about the Galena that it shares with the Xpress gym such as:
Fold the footplate down for abductor and adductorleg kicks, arm curls, and upright rows
Self-aligning leg extension and curl station provides seated leg extension and standingleg curl and automatically adjusts to fit all leg sizes
High pulley station for lat pull downs, and triceps push downs
Space saving design allows placement in corner of room
Optional leg press attachment for full leg development
The Bodycraft Galena gym needs improvement on the station 2 set-up before I will give it my endorsement, until that happens, take a look at the Bodycraft Xpress and Body Solid G6B gyms instead
